Guests of Honor

She was born in Istanbul in 1941. She graduated from the Ceramics Department of the State Applied Fine Arts School in 1962. Between 1964 and 1972, she studied ceramic art and ceramic engineering in Germany with a Ministry of Education scholarship. She worked at Wachtersbacher-Keramik, Rastal-Werke, Rosentahl companies in Germany and in the ceramics department of Dansk-Design in Denmark. As a result of written agreements in Germany, some forms were purchased by Goebel and Husctchenreuter companies to be produced in mass production.

 

She returned home in 1972 and started working as an assistant at DTGSYO Ceramics Department. She became a faculty member by submitting his thesis titled "Primitive Pottery in Anatolia", which was published as a book by Akbank Ak Publications. She became Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 1993. She served as Head of the Ceramics-Glass Department between 1996 and 2008. She was a guest lecturer in the USA in 1989 and in Germany in 1996. She opened personal exhibitions and gave conferences with slides on the subjects "Primitive Pottery in Anatolia" and "Contemporary Turkish Ceramics". She was in Japan as a researcher with a scholarship from the Japan Foundation in 1990. She opened a personal ceramic exhibition and gave conferences on the same subjects.

 

She participated in group exhibitions at home and abroad between 1961 and 2022, and was rewarded in some of them. She opened 17 personal ceramic exhibitions, six of which were abroad, and wrote articles in various magazines and newspapers. She retired due to age limit in 2008. She currently teaches at ITU Fine Arts Department Undergraduate Program and continues her art and design works.

He was born in Izmir in 1941. He completed his primary and secondary education in Karsiyaka. He started his art career in 1959 at Fureya Koral’s Studio. In 1960, he entered the Eczacibasi Ceramic Factory Art Studio and continued his ceramic works there. He graduated from Werkkunst Schule Offenbach A-Main Ceramics Department in Germany in 1965. The artist, who established his own business in 1970, also worked as a lecturer at Ege University Vocational School Ceramics Department, 9 Eylul University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramics Department and Fine Arts Faculty Traditional Handicrafts Tile Department. He participated in many events such as exhibitions, symposiums and congresses at home and abroad and received various awards. In addition, Kizilcan was given the title of Honorary Professor by Shan Dong University in China in recognition of his work. His works are included in the collections of the State Painting and Sculpture Museum as well as many international museums.

Arek Szwed is an artist born in 1969. He lives in DÄ…browica near Lublin. In 1995, he graduated with a degree in history from Maria Sklodowska-Curie University in Lublin, later pursuing a career in marketing and advertising. He left his corporate job in 2008, setting up his own ceramic studio. He specialises in small and medium-sized ceramic sculptures, with the recurring motifs of the road, transience, and constant dreams of flying, and is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers.

As at 1 January 2024, his sculptures have travelled to exactly 52 countries, most of them to the United States, as far as Anchorage, Alaska; Auckland, New Zealand; Tokyo; and Santiago, Chile. His works have been exhibited numerous times in art galleries in Poland and abroad, as well as at auctions in auction houses.
